In Austin all week.. the opening was grrrrreat! thanks to all who came and participated in the event. Butcher Bear slayed all night long. AND I believe there may be a closing party in the works. more news on that l8tr. I have been turned on by a couple different artists since being here between the swimming and going to Curra's and Tamale house. These guys are doing some amazing things.
Lance Bradley : www.clumsypiddler.com/main.php
His house completely JAMMED with artwork, drawings, paintings, bizarre aloe vera and cactus plants everywhere, stacks of records and an old turntable blasting some 70's R&B. Sketches from 20 years ago sat in a pile with drawings from yesterday, Lance showed me some really inspiring stuff. Recently he has been doing "house wraps".. Where he will do a mural on an entire house making it look like the structure just came out of the box that way.. covering the entire building with abstract figures and trippy characters that have woven themselves in and out of his artwork through out his career.

I met Patrick on the street in Austin as he peddled his wares. small portrait paintings with text and hidden inuendos. Right up my alley! a series of "shotgun houses" too. I had a couple faves and had a great chat while referencing paintings and ideas along the way. great guy, hope to run into him again.
